International High School Honors

PROGRAMS | HIGH SCHOOL

Each student is a unique individual with a personal set of goals. Upon entry, we evaluate the student’s academic and personal achievements, and make a gap analysis to identify areas of strength and weakness. The student is assigned a highly experienced mentor who will develop a study plan jointly with the student, and track and guide the students’ progress throughout the entire program.

Creating a strong college application that stands out starts with the right preparation. You have to make sure to choose the right classes; maintain good grades; achieve high scores on the SAT, ACT, or TOEFL; participate in extracurricular activities; and more. The planning itself is challenging and you can use some help.

7th - 8th Grade

Even though high school graduation is years away, it’s not too early to start thinking about what you want to do after high school. We realize you have big decisions to make and we want to help you begin to make plans for the future.

9th Grade

Make sure you know which high school courses are required by colleges, and that you’re taking the right classes as early as the ninth grade. You can ask your counselor about what those “right” classes are.

10th Grade

Be sure to meet with your counselor to ensure that your course schedule is challenging enough to prepare you for college. Check into any prerequisites for advanced-level junior- and senior-year courses.

11th Grade

Make lists of your abilities, social/cultural preferences, and personal qualities. List things you may want to study and do in college. Look at the college websites to create your college applications list.

12th Grade

Finish the application forms for the schools you’re interested in. Make sure you and your school’s guidance office have sent all necessary materials, including test scores, recommendations, transcripts, and application essays.
